Gardendale 35, Carver-Birmingham 21: Rockets QB Michael Crowder accounts for four TDs

won its second straight game, beating Carver-Montgomery (3-1) 35-21 tonight as quarterback Michael Crowder accounted for four touchdowns.

Crowder finished 10-of-20 passing for 201 yards and touchdown passes of 78, 7 and 41 yards and added a 3-yard touchdown run, and Conner Howell caught five passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns for the Rockets (2-2).

Key sequence: Crowder threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Bailey Parsons in the second quarter, and Jason Brooks added a 3-yard run midway through the second quarter for a 28-7 lead. Carver never fully recovered.

Stat of the night: The two teams combined for 25 penalties for 205 yards. Gardnedale has 16 penalties, including four for unsportsmanlike conduct, for 115 yards. In the second half, the officials called the two head coaches to midfield in an effort to prevent the game from getting out of hand.

Stat sheet: Carver quarterback Chappell Wade completed 9-of-21 passes for 150 yards and two TDs and rushed 14 times for 77 yards and a touchdown. … Carver’s Cameron McKinnely caught four passes for 127 yards and TDs of 78 and 28 yards. … Gardendale’s Jason Brooks scored on a 3-yard run.

Play of the game: On fourth-and-12 from the Gardendale 28, Wade completed a 28-yard TD pass to McKinnely with seven seconds remaining in the first half.
